Senior Loan Administrator / Portfolio Manager

Thomas F. Ravert, CFP®, serves as Senior Loan Administrator and Portfolio Manager at Phoenix Capital Solutions, bringing to the role one of the most seasoned commercial real estate finance careers on the founding team. Over four decades, Tom has worked across commercial lending, portfolio management, credit risk, loan workouts, valuation, distressed debt resolution, and secondary market execution — accumulating direct experience in every dimension of the loan lifecycle that his role at Phoenix Capital requires. He carries full accountability for each assigned loan from closing through maturity or Liquidity Event, managing borrower relations, coordinating compliance monitoring, and ensuring every file in his assigned book remains current, documented, and audit-ready.

Tom most recently served as Managing Director and Partner of Pathway Capital Corp. and American Standard Capital, a commercial real estate advisory and lending platform he has led since 2017. In that capacity he advised institutional lenders, real estate developers, investors, and business owners on capital strategy and loan execution; originated over $300 million in commercial real estate loans across varying asset classes; developed a conduit lending platform for middle-market commercial real estate originations; and bought, sold, or brokered the sale of over $100 million in distressed debt. As an approved third-party SBA 504 lender, his platform gave him hands-on operational exposure across owner-occupied lending, SBA financing, and commercial and industrial credit — a breadth that maps directly to the intake, underwriting coordination, and portfolio management responsibilities he carries at Phoenix Capital.

Before establishing his advisory practice, Tom served as Senior Vice President and Director of Portfolio Management at Flushing Bank, where he functioned as division head overseeing portfolio management, foreclosure, collections, loan workout, OREO, and loan servicing across a book of more than 5,600 commercial and residential real estate loans and four hundred business banking accounts. His responsibilities spanned FAS 114 impairment analysis, risk modeling, credit loss forecasting, annual financial statement review, stress testing, and compliance liaison work with the OCC, FDIC, New York State Banking Department, and CFPB. He also managed the bank’s third-party servicer relationship — overseeing loan boarding, document review, escrow and suspense analysis, payment application, and hazard and flood insurance compliance — and directed note sales, short sales, managed property sales, syndications, and loan participations. That combination of institutional-scale portfolio management and servicer coordination represents precisely the operational foundation the Senior Loan Administrator and Portfolio Manager role demands.

Tom’s career before Flushing Bank spans some of the most recognized names in commercial real estate finance. He served as Senior Asset Manager at Greystone & Co., leading a team through small-balance commercial real estate divestiture efforts involving both individual refinance transactions and whole loan and pooled note sales. As Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager at JPMorgan Chase, he originated over $1 billion in multi-family and commercial real estate loans across the Northeast and Midwest, earning two President’s Club Honoree Awards for exceeding production and profitability objectives. At ABN AMRO Bank, he served as Vice President and Northeast Regional Manager, spearheading an apartment lending program that originated $1.4 billion in small multi-family and mixed-use loans across the United States by developing productive correspondent broker relationships across eleven states. His earlier roles at Brooklyn Federal Savings Bank — where as Vice President and Chief Mortgage Officer he directed all residential and commercial lending, supervised underwriters, and managed the closing process including post-closing special servicing — and at Emigrant Savings Bank — where as First Vice President and Senior Mortgage Officer he supervised sixty mortgage professionals across ten satellite offices and closed more than 2,100 commercial real estate loans totaling over $500 million — established the credit and operational foundations on which the remainder of his career has been built. Across forty years in commercial real estate finance, Tom has financed more than 6,000 commercial loans totaling over $7 billion in total loan value.

Tom holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Communication from Adelphi University. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation (CFP®), and is credentialed as a New York State Certified General Appraiser and Certified General Appraiser Instructor. He is a New York State Licensed Real Estate Broker and a New York State Registered Mortgage Loan Originator under the SAFE Act. He is also the author of The Rudiments of Real Estate series, a multi-volume work designed to make complex real estate and finance topics clear, practical, and accessible; the first volume, The Rudiments of Real Estate: Home Ownership, was released in November 2025.

At Phoenix Capital, Tom brings that full depth of experience to bear on one of the firm’s most operationally critical functions. His assigned book of loans receives the same disciplined attention he has applied to institutional portfolios throughout his career — consistent monitoring of covenant compliance, coordinated escalation of any developing issues, and systematic file management that protects the integrity of every asset. For the sellers, buyers, broker partners, and institutional investors whose interests depend on rigorous loan administration, Tom’s four decades in commercial real estate finance provide a level of professional assurance that few practitioners anywhere in the industry can match.
